Genna has always been passionate about community involvement, from leading English classes at a local community center abroad to fundraising for the preservation of culturally and ecologically significant land right here in Washington. She has volunteered for years with an organization dedicated to helping expats abroad navigate linguistic and cultural barriers to access resources for animal welfare. She lived in Japan for half a decade, learning the challenges and rewards of navigating life in a second language and remaining heavily involved in cultural exchange activities for her students and locals of all ages.
With a B.A. in Anthropology from Central Connecticut University, Genna believes deeply in the impact a culturally-informed approach can have on a sense of belonging. She is eager to pull from all her experiences to benefit the resilient Casino Road community.
